This Jumbo Cup/Hub Yarn Bowl Set is a rare offering. Here's why:
One of two pieces turned from a single (enormous!) specimen of red oak, this bowl cracked dramatically during the drying process. The "companion" bowl was beyond repair, but Bob was able to rescue this "better half," mindful that wood yarn bowls this size are very uncommon. Front and back views feature pretty swirling grains, while the east and west (end-grain) views have very fine cracks, painstakingly filled with the desired natural result. A couple of the larger fills weren't the perfect color to the artist's eye, but he continued with this piece to offer it as "perfectly imperfect" at HeckathornTurnedWood.com/blog
Creating custom fills is tricky because the custom mixed fill and the wood tones on every bowl change from the beginning to the end of the finish process. In this instance, a couple of subtle spots (see photos) have reduced the price of this beautiful cup/hub set for one lucky yarner to snap up at a deep discount.

This JUMBO SET includes our large glass tool cup/hub for yarn bits, snips, etc., ready to load up and spin at your side for ALL your wips. Set the cup in the center of the #JumboYarnBowl to separate smaller balls, keeping them from rolling/tangling as you pull each yarn from the top.  Load it up with big balls of worsted (or anything), and projects become portable with panache. Easily move from the living room to the den –even the bedroom for Sunday morning coffee and crochet... 

The bowl measures a whopping 14-3/4" (top diameter) x 4-3/4" depth, including some extra ballast in its 1/2" base. Circumference of 44-1/2" around the middle (all od). Over thirty coats of finish and hand-buffing bring out the rich character of the golden oak tones and stunning grains, silky smooth to the touch, with a final coat of museum wax to resist fingerprints. Artisan signed and numbered; #1225, dimensions are approximate. This set is a duplicate of my favorite yarn bowl set –always in use. One-of-a-kind; an investment that will not disappoint at a special price!

Please note: due to its low profile, this bowl does not have a yarn groove. You'll love how much it holds and how easy it is to pull multiple strands from the top with your tool cup/hub in the center.
